<ソーシャルテレビ> IBC2010は3Dテレビとコネクトテレビが主役!!?


 IBC2010( International Broadcasting Convention)と言う名前の放送業界のお祭りが毎年、秋にアムステルダムで開催されています。(2010年9月9日ー14日)
IBCはbroadcaster and platform operator showです。米国のCESはメーカーよりですが、IBCは放送事業者寄りですね。
 今年の中心テーマは3Dテレビとインターネットテレビ(コネクトテレビ)だそうです。

It is quite clear that three-screen TV is the bigger priority for major TV solution vendors, who are starting to deploy complete solutions built around the principle of unified headends and backoffice management, plus a unified consumer experience across different platforms. We expect IBC this year to be remembered as the one where three-screen TV came of age.
The next most important theme for IBC this year, in our view, is Connected TV (including Hybrid Broadcast Broadband – or HBB), which encompasses the delivery of quality TV and video content to a variety of connected devices including connected televisions, set-top boxes, Blu-ray players and games consoles. Companies providing browser technologies and DRM to protect online content, and those who can manage online content management and video delivery, will take an increasingly central position at this exhibition in the next few years as broadcast and broadband converge.

As IBC is a broadcaster and platform operator show, the focus for the Connected TV and HBB environment is on how these companies can harness convergence and maintain or enhance their position in the content-to-consumer value chain. At CES the focus may be on displacing a managed TV service; in Amsterdam what matters (and what matters to us) is how to use broadband to enhance the managed TV experience. Nonetheless, over-the-top video in its own right is now an important backdrop to this show.

Three-screen television and the Connected Home are now two sides of the same coin but look out for different approaches to delivering Pay TV content beyond the TV. Online content aggregation and delivery, along the lines of the ‘TV Everywhere’ services now deployed by BSkyB and Comcast, for example, is also described as the ‘cloud’ approach
