何とルーターの米国シスコが企業用のYouTube類似ソフトを開発し、提供を始めるそうです。社長からのメッセージや展示会の様子、eラーニングなどを社員に提供する訳ですね。当然、パソコンだけでなくブルーベリーのような携帯端末や携帯電話なども対象になるそうです。社内ポータルにYouTube類似の動画エンジンが必須の時代が近づいています。

社長メッセージが電子メールや衛星放送ではなく、YouTubeで来る時代が近づきました。

Instead of reading an e-mail or going to a meeting for a company announcement, Cisco's media package enables companies to stream a video to an employee's computer screen or handheld device. The presentations look similar to television programs and can play on any browser.

The media package, which will be marketed to larger businesses, provides the networking connections that allows for recorded video to be transfered to Web sites and then downloaded on any browser. It also includes a device that encodes data digitally so it can be transfered and stored, and a software package that enables users to store the data and manage the files.

Analysts called the media package a smart way for Cisco to capitalize on its own network expertise and sell more of its equipment to the businesses with which it already works.

At the same time, analysts warned Cisco is jumping into an increasingly competitive world of streaming video.
