Verizon Wireless is teaming up with digital media firm Exent to relaunch its Verizon Games service and desktop application with new virtual world features. The virtual world component of the service allows users to customize profile pages and create avatars. Each avatar is given a virtual space in the Verizon Game Lounge that can be decorated with virtual items users earn by playing particular games or through microtransaction purchase.

The service gives users access to over 1500 games and introduces a touchscreen interface for compatible handsets that will make browsing and purchasing the games library easier. It will feature Exent's GameTanium app, which allows users to scroll through lists of apps without loading page by page. Users can now earn Trophies and Prize Points by playing games. Users can purchase titles through subscription service or individual downloads.
